Takeways
Treemate was proudly selected for exhibition at the Earthrise23 festival, held in Turin from June 8th to 11th, 2023. Showcased at Circolo del Design, Treemate captivated visitors, who engaged enthusiastically with its interactive quiz multiple times, demonstrating their keen interest and appreciation for the experience.
The product
The Treemate journey begins with clear on-screen instructions. As users delve into the quiz, they're prompted to choose either option A or B in response to personality-driven questions. Based on their responses, users are paired with a tree from Piemonte that reflects their unique personality. At the quiz's conclusion, not only do users gain insights into their persona, but they also forge a connection with a tree, accompanied by a heartwarming takeaway message. The experience is enriched with a voice assistant, ambient background music, and subtle sound effects, ensuring an immersive encounter. Whether undertaken solo or shared with friends, the quiz promises an enjoyable exploration of Piemonte's trees.

Physical
Interface
Treemate features a sleek, intuitive interface with two push buttons (A and B) and a hand scanner. Designed for versatility, it integrates seamlessly with various displays, from projectors in prototyping to TVs at exhibitions.
Users can navigate the personality-driven quiz via the buttons, with the scanner playing a key role in the finale, deepening their connection with the tree oracle. Tactile buttons with responsive feedback, synchronized lighting, and auditory cues enhance the experience.
The structure combines layered plywood, engraved plexiglass, and vinyl for durability and aesthetics. During scanning, dynamic pulsating lights heighten anticipation. The system automatically resets via its connected computer. Core components include an Arduino Nano RP2040, two push buttons, NeoPixel rings (24 LEDs each), an ultrasonic ranger, and a carrier by Marco Lurati. Accompanying visuals showcase both the prototype and final design.
